New Flash and lighting set to follow

I'm very excited to say that I have purchased a new Nikon SB700 Speedlight. This is the first part of what will be a portable lighting set up geared towards outdoor night photography and indoor portrait photography. It will be rounded out by a YN-560 (should be in possession by next month) as a slave flash/strobe, two umbrellas both with speedlight mounts, and wireless triggers. The first umbrella and wireless trigger should be arriving as early as Thursday of next week. I'm very excited as I have seen that good lighting is essential in making a picture, especially a portrait, look great. Below are a couple of sample pictures taken with the speedlight.

The first image is one of my sister taken in the foyer of our house. I positioned the flash upwards pointing towards the ceiling allowing the light from the flash to bounce and light up the entire area. This was taken in pitch black dark. I'd say that this is a pretty powerful flash and will do very well for event candid pictures.

This photo is of one of my mom's many angel figurines. I positioned the flash to the left of the object and triggered it with my pop up flash. I diffused the flash from my camera with a paper towel because I wanted the flash to create shadows on the right side. With the trigger I won't have to worry about my pop up flash and with the umbrella I'll be able to diffuse the light from the flash so it's not as strong.

Needless to say the next month to a month and a half should be very exciting. If you're looking for a photographer to do some indoor portraits or candid pics for an event, look no further!
